another new member

hello everybody,
i am a new member of this forum and i like it a lot. my name is urska (female), 34, from slovenia.
since the first time i saw a picture of a shih tzu (probably 20 years ago) and then read few book about their character, i knew i will have one.
now after all these years, i think the time is right. well almost. i am still researching, reading, learning...i am planning to get one next spring or summer. i have found a breeder in croatia, she has maginficant dogs (so i read) and she is planning to have two litters next year. she already showed me "the parents." i just hope there will be a boy in her litters for me, too. i would like to have a black and white dog and maybe i will get lucky.
during my research i found this forum (slovenian shih tzu forum isnt up to date, topics are at least two years old) and i like it a lot. i know i will get many useful information here.

I got my first Shih Tzu a few days a go and i am so loving every minute of it...they are heart melting, funny and very much mischief-makers but in a good way

Welcome to the forum,as you will see shih tzu's are great dogs. Its good that you have found a good breeder, looking forward to getting to know you. There are lots of nice people on here with lots of experience and advice about the breed. Maxine xxx

As you can see, we are a very friendly forum and love sharing stories about our fur babies antics. They are so full of mischief and can create havoc wherever they go, but one look from those massive eyes and you just can't help but fall in love with them. You have certainly done your homework, and found a lovely breeder. I hope you manage to find exactly the right pup for you, it sounds like the breeder is doing everything properly.

as i read about the breeder, she is a lovley lady, doing everything she can for the breed. the only thing i kind of have a problem with it, is that a lot of dogs in slovenia (i hope you know where my country is:) are hers. and so a lot of them are related. but on the other hand, she has high quality dog, all doing extremley well on shows.

When Shih Tzu were first introduced to the UK there were only a handful of dogs so they all had to be related. There were and are prolific show breeders in the UK but these people have the development of the breed at heart so I would say if the breeder you have found has quality dogs and is showing successfully then you are going the right way about getting yourself a quality dog and I wish you every success. I look forward to seeing photos xxx

The wait will be worth it hun...honest and then you can enjoy spending time looking after your pup with great knowledge. I am a first time owner of a Shih Tzu and my little one is only just over 7 weeks old and enjoying every minute of it...we've had so many laughs we with him already because like i say he is very mischievous but then they look at you with those big beautiful eyes which makes you go all mushy and you can't help but fall in love them

i made it! i guess the seven day trial is over. so these are parents-to-be. my breeder is planning to have litters with those guys next year.

what do you think, do i have a chance of gettin a B&W baby boy out of these couples?

Beautiful Shih tzu's I think she looks like a good breeder. Her dogs have beautiful colour's in them. It is worth waiting to get the right furbaby, as you will have them for many years.Good luck Maxine xxx
