Turkey Hobnobs
With all the talk this week about the safety of pet treats and the fact that I can no longer get the pet bakery chicken bones I decided to have a go at making my own treats for Josh. I made these today and have to say that I almost fell over JOsh every time I went to check on them in theoven and he has had 3 even before they had cooled down lol!!
TURKEY HOBNOBS
500 g minced/ground turkey
60g diced unsalted Butter
2 teacups plain flour
1 teacup oats
1 egg

500 g minced/ground turkey
60g diced unsalted Butter
2 teacups plain flour
1 teacup oats
1 egg
- Rub in the butter and sieved flour.
Add the Oats and stir well
Add the ground turkey and mix well with your hands to work the turkey through the mixture.
bind with a beaten egg
Knead and then roll out on a floured board to about 0.5cm thick then cut into shapes.
Bake on a lined baking tray at between 160 and 180 degrees C for about an hour until they are golden brown and hard.

Re: Turkey Hobnobs
I never think of making stuff like this for mine but you know it looks simple enough I might just be tempted.
Don't suppose you have the measurements in good ole lbs and oz's do you? As cups I have no idea, do we use any ole cup out of cupboard or is a cup a certain measure?

Re: Turkey Hobnobs
a good old fashioned tea cup lol!! Suppose you couls use a mug and half a mug instead of 2 teacups and 1 teacup!! As for the other stuff - I bought a 500g pack of mince turkey and cut about a third of a pack of butter - I NEVER measure anything!! Put the approx weights down for you lotIoxia, Coco & Saska wrote:I never think of making stuff like this for mine but you know it looks simple enough I might just be tempted.

Re: Turkey Hobnobs
I've made these biscuits twice now for my lot, and they absolutely ADORE them. They don't like them too crispy - rather softish in the middle, and they enjoy them even better when they're just out of the oven!
I'm going to make up batches of these for christmas pressies for all my furry friends this year!

Re: Turkey Hobnobs
They are very popular with Josh - so popular that he goes off his other food
My friend has been making chicken scones for him so I will try to get the recipe for those too
Meant to add that I did them last time without the egg and they worked out well too (couldn't remember my own recipe ) if anyone has an egg-sensitive pooch!

Re: Turkey Hobnobs
You're welcome! Of course I have regretted making them because Josh has become a finicky eater as a result
