Mass panic ahhhhh
As I type I am currently on my kitchen floor looking at mags in her crate.
While eatting mags ha a nose bleed ( did not know this at the time) she started sneezing and could not stop blood coming out of her mouth and nose. I had to get rid of the food in her mouth because she started to go limp and not breathe. After 10 mins of panic we rang emergency vet who wanted her in to make her sleepy cause she can't stop herself from sneezing. On ringing my dad ( as u do ) he said put cold wet tea towels on her forehead and over her eyes to stop bleeding and calm her down. Vet not very helpful thank god for no it all father. After hour she is asleep in her crate but if woke continues to sneeze. Rang vet they can't do anything. So here I am watching my lil mags horrible stuff.

Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
Gosh that is awfully frightening . I would be inclined either to ring another vet or Vet 24/7 . You may have that with your insurance I have it included with Morethan Insurance. Hope she is alright. let us know.
Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
All the vets in the area r pooled into a emergency vet after hours. It's a case of if I don't calm her down she will have to go to vet to stay over an made sleepy to stop her sneezing I managed to stop the bleeding but the blood clot in her nose make her sneeze more but she is so tired very sad to see we have ha to change all her crate covers cause she has has a accident I am doing a wipe over with a damp towel to clean her . What a day

Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
I think you should get her to the vet asap - if she has lost substantiakl blood she will need at least fluids if not a transfusion. The vet will be able to sedate her to stop the sneezing and monitor her. I think Carol was talking about the phone a vet system that is in place with lots of vets but I would just get her in the car and get her to the emergency surgery asap - she could have something stuck in her nose, the blood could be coming from the brain - you don 't know - we aren't vets - just get her to the vets love xxxx
Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
We have got in contact with our vet not the rubbish call out. He agrees that bringing her in for overnight will be to stressful she can breathe but needs calming down to stop her sneezing because of the clot in her nose. She is going to vets in the morning long night for me . We cover her eyes with a wet t tea towel seems to work

Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
so sorry to hear about little Maggie. Ive just googled this and it sais that sneezing can traumatize the nose causing a bleed, and must be seen by a vet asap as the others have already said, hope she will be ok, and you as well . x

Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
I am sorry but I don't agree with vets diagnosing over the phone - they need to see the patient... I would NOT be happy waiting until the morning if it were my dog!
Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
Maggie is better this morning she is still lacking her nose but not sneezing as much. She had us a couple of times in the night but managed to calm her down. As for the vets I can't make them see her they only thing they can do is Sedate her to stop the sneezing its very much Like reverse sneezing and snorting because of the nose being blocked and blood and the rest going down the back of her thoat she he is tryin breathe and swallow . but I managed to find a way to calm her down also a mini ice pack to stop the bleeding. She is going to see him today. He thinks it started when she was eatting a chocked causing the nose bleed

I am so glad Maggie is better this morning and you had a reasonable night with her. I still think the vet could have and should have seen her lat night.Let us know how you get on with her later at the vets.
Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
She is loads better today she still has the odd sneeze but ok se has eaten etc I think she is just really tired. Vet said to keep a eye as tw bleeding is stopped and she is not sneezing and snorting there is nothing he can do at the surgery. It's just a lot worse because o her flat face and because she was chocking. Going to keep her quite today and keep a eye on her

Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
New development. I have made my vet see her as I think she may have something stuck up there and she is better but flat and clearly upset about her nose she started rubbing her face alon the wall outside. She is going at 5 regardless if it was just a nose bleed she keeps reverse sneezing which is horrible ! Also I know when Henry stays clear there is something up

Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
So am I think she may have something up there we went on a walk pervious to her meal on a walk we have a lot of them grass seeds in the house as well she is really trying to get something out of there I can imagine if it was just the scab from tw nose bleed it woul have been dislodged by now. I have tried looking but she starts sneezing an u can really see up there. Hope to god she will not need x rays or sadating. She is reverse sneezing like mad so I have to stay in to stop her cause she can't stop herself. U think ya paying these vets so if I want her looked at and I paying what is the problem I will never take her if I thought for a sec there was no need but u can't be to careful around the nose area. The emergency vet was useless polish lady who just seemed pissed cause I rang on a Sunday night requested a home visit but they can't ring the tools they need to look up there anyway Maggie Mae u r a nightmare !

Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
sneezing is caused by an irritant or infection, in dogs just the same as in humans. I cant believe the vet would only sedate her to relax her. Think I would change vets if it was my dog!!!!!!!!!!! Hope shes ok, sending you all hugs n xxx

Re: Mass panic ahhhhh
Is defo irritation and she had a nose bleed but I will know at 5 what's going on they wanted to sadate her cause she could not stop sneezing and they would have to if I could not calm her wet towel over eyes and rad worked but soon as I took it off she was away again. It looks so bad because she had a mouth open and all the blood was coming out the mouth and nose getting all her dinner out her mouth was the worse cause she could not breathe and went floppy. Lucky Henry rushed in crying and he does not leave his dinner for nothing. Came in the kitchen an she was like it shock was a understatement. But knowing mags she will be ok finger crossed

Oh No I was hoping that I might have been over-reacting .. you know better to be safe than sorry!! Thank God you did go and I would be makingn a complaint about that non-helpful emergency vet... as I said in my post last night you CANNOT diagnose over the phone you need to see the animal!!! That is what they are paid for and that is why they are the emergency vet!!
Sending lots of positive thoughts and hope it al goes well - poor Maggie Mae she certainly has been through the wars hasn't she? Your poor nerves must be in shreds
