Not allowed to foster :-(
My partner and I thought it would be nice to help a local kennel with some fostering or general help we r both in the forces my partner is a bout to leave and I do 4 day 4 off 4 nights 4 off so I have 4 days off I am based on land and do not move unit so I am not being called away but soon as we said forces we were instantly rejected even when I try to explain the above factors they said its there policy well there u go hey I have more time off then most ppl and could offer rest bite for small dogs in kennels I have a large home and no children and a garden plenty of parks as I live is Somerset country. Shame how ppl want to help but r turned away for no reason. Slightly deflated or what

Re: Not allowed to foster :-(
Pity they have turned you down flat. Have you tried different kennels or dog charities, I am sure some of them would love your help. Would it be possible for you to go to the kennels and walk some dogs or something to help out in that way?

Re: Not allowed to foster :-(
I think most places that foster out dogs dont want you to leave the dogs for than a couple of hours on their own as many of the dogs have either never lived in a home before or may suffer from separation anxiety or have other problems, I know when I was homechecked before fostering it was one of the questions I was asked x

Re: Not allowed to foster :-(
Well we asked them if this was a policy that many kennels ha they said yes which is a shame I have a lot of time on my hands also 2 dogs that will not challenge did coming in Maggie will not bother with other dogs and Henry is a very submissive male which loves to play if other dogs want to.
O well
O well

Re: Not allowed to foster :-(
Have you asked if you could maybe collect a couple of dogs and take them for a walk, with yours I know a lot of rescues encourage this to get the dogs out of kennels for a few hours x

As for the walking part of it they did not seem like they wanted to know when I said I was in the forces

Well that seems downright daft to me because NO ADOPTER is going to be able to stay with their dog 24/7 so it seems more sensible to get the dogs used to being left and as for dogs who have come from puppy farms - they have no idea of home life anyway!
It is like I am branded because I have un-neutered dogs. That is my prerogative. I don't breed them, I have not to date (don't want to tempt fate ) had any unwanted litter! If there was a mishap I would take the bitch to the vet to get it stopped. The dogs and bitches they foster out are neutered anyway so what's the problem?? They seem to have this weird idea that male dogs will "rape" and "hump" bitches 24/7 which shows they don't know much about the sex life of the canine species
