Home Waiting in Manchester
Hi
I would like to offer a home to a Shih tzu. Not owned one since I was a child. Had Staffie's for the last 15yrs.
We have no little people living with us but we have them visiting occasionally. We have a cat which we rescued in Sept.
There are so many puppies for sale on the internet but thats not for me - I prefer to rescue.
So any rescue centre's that think we could give one a chance please get intouch.
For some reason my partner prefers all black - me I just want any colour.

Re: Home Waiting in Manchester
HI Winnie and welcome to the forum.
It is fantastic that you want to rehouse a Shih Tzu, and I am sure we will be able to help you fulfil your dreams, but it might take a while. Have you had a look here -
http://shihtzu-rescue.org.uk/
They are based near Manchester so may be able to help. Simbalove should be here later today and I am sure she will be able to give you some more rescue centres to try.
Good luck, and I hope you manage to find a lovely furry friend to share your life with soon.

The shih tzu site mentioned in Sujays post has got some puppies in at the moment, they rescued the mums who were expecting at the time. The puppies arent ready to go to their forever homes yet, but you can go along and choose one now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh i'm so tempted !!!!!!!!!!!! good luck x

Re: Home Waiting in Manchester
I don't know anything about the above mentioned rescue and I have some serious doubts about them as I have looked at the site over the years and only ever see puppies mentioned and am not sure it is not just a shop front.
There is a bone fide shih tzu rescuer in the North West and her name is Elain McDonald telephone 0161 624 3171 Elain is vice chairman of the Northern Counties Shih Tzu Club.
The North East is covered by Ann Craggs tel 01207 560046 in Newcastle
Another rescue that often has shih tzu for rehoming is the LITTLE DOG RESCUE based in derbyshire.
Give these a try and good luck

Re: Home Waiting in Manchester
Thanks very much for that. I will give them a try.
Is Elain a registered user on here so I can inbox her or do you know if she has email - I think its a better way to introduce us and outline our family unit and routine.
Just googled Elain's name and found an email addy - sent email to see if its the correct contact.
I will keep you updated with my search to find a little one.

Re: Home Waiting in Manchester
Honey is coming home on Wednesday - pictures will be on then. She is all golden colour, short haired and very loving.
She ticks all the boxes. And lives with cats which is a big plus as we have a rescue cat already.

Re: Home Waiting in Manchester
Honey Im home......
We are all too giddy to take a proper picture but this is the first one - isnt she just adorable
The cat is a little unsure and keeps her distance. So far Honey has been amazing in such a short space of time.

She looks so sweet, and home to Honey. I hope you had a peaceful first night. I am sure your cat will be fine once she realises Honey is not a threat to her.

Re: Home Waiting in Manchester
She is doing ok - a few teething problems as expected. She only seems to like tin dog food which isnt ideal, tried a few dry/kibble and she finds it too hard, even when made moist she isnt interested. She cant get upstairs (yet), only down coming downstairs this morning. Other half had a comedy moment last night when she broke away from her collar and did a runner down the road - he wa amazed how fast she ran with her little ears flapping in the wind. So new collar & lead for her today. Having a weekend in just to keep her company and calm, she has had a lot of fuss since coming home its time now to get into routines and settle down.
