Hi my name is Kelli new to this group. I just adopted a rescue puppy he is 11 weeks old Male Shih Tzu his name is KoKo Loko. I am an older first time dog owner and will be looking for some good helpful advice along the way. I was always busy bringing up my children and never had time for animals. Now they are grown and have family's of there own I have empty nest syndrome and thought this was the time to get a puppy. I have been searching all kinds of info on this breed. There are things I know and then things I don't know how to go about certain training techniques. Thank You and info will help. Kelli

Hi Kelli, and welcome to Whispers!! You have chosen a fab breed as these little monkeys are addictive! I now have three of them.

We are all very friendly so dont hesitate to ask anything!

PS everyone will be asking for photos.....including me.

Look forward to hearing more about KoKo Loko. New Member & First time dog owner 132239

You wont regret having this breed. I do competition Rally 'O' with my dog Tuppence.....she has 8 rosettes so far and is 2 years old...not bad for a breed known to have a willful stubborn streak....they are very easy to train if you take time and a little patience. Please take her to your local training classes if you can you wont regret it. I love her colour...what I can see of it anyway. More pictures please !!

Hi Kelli and a very warm welcome to Whispers hugging dogs

I love the name Koko Loco and he looks to be a lovely young baby teddy hug

you will not regret having this breed and he will certainly fill the empty nest lol! They are such good people dogs and it is like having a toddler in the home (sometimes a naughty one) but they are full of love for their humans.

If you have any queries or problems just shout. It is imperative that you post lots of photos of him as we all need our puppy fix from time to time Very Happy

I am putting a couple of links here for you - the first one is for POTTY/HOUSE TRAINING

and the second one is for CLICKER TRAINING as I think you might have great fun with him doing this xxxxx
