Re: Welcome Heidishome
Hello Heidishome and a very very warm welcome to Whispers - it is great to have you on board
Re: Welcome Heidishome
Hi everyone & thanks for the warm welcome.
I am the other half of Gilliesleap who joined recently.
He has two working black labs and I have my little pack indoors. The "little" pack consists of:
Milo - 12yr old Lhasa (Mr Sulky Pants). He is my soul dog and goes with me everywhere.
Heidi - 3½yr Scottish Terrier. She is my little queen and has the gentlest soul in dogdom. She only joined us in April of this year via The Little Dog Rescue. She was rescued from a life being used as a breeding bitch at a puppy farm and handed in to TLDR who matched us to her perfectly.
My girl is blossoming into the little dog she was always meant to be and is finally realising that she no longer has to be afraid.
We, as a family, decided that little Heidi needed a companion closer to her own age so went back to TLDR and a little while later they matched us with ........ Grouch the 2½yr old Shih Tzu....... who is my little whirlwind of hair & love. He came to live with us about two weeks ago.
Now he may not be the handsomest of Shih Tzu's but what he lacks in looks he certainly makes up for in character..... and we are all totally under his spell already.
I named him Grouch not because of his temperment but because he bears more than a passing resemblance to that lovable character of the same name from Sesame Street (the children's programme).
So now my little pack feels complete and the status quo is perfect.
Looking forward to meeting some of you at Tatton Park in August. Milo, Heidi & Grouch will of course be with me.

Re: Welcome Heidishome
This is Grouch - my little whirlwind - where do they get that energy level from?
doing his party trick..... and he sits there perfectly balanced for as long as it takes him to get his prize. I didn't know he could do this until he spied me with a mini packet of cheesy wotsits - obviously a favourite of his!!
Smile for the camera Grouchie....
This is Milo the Lhasa..
and lastly Heidi the Scottie - my little queen...

I'm missing most of the photos (My work computers fault) but from what I can see Grouch certainly is handsome and so are Milo and Heidi.

Re: Welcome Heidishome
Oh it's really great to have you here and what fabulous photos! All your dogs are gorgeous. It's heart warming to know they all now have the wonderful home they deserve with you. I can't wait to meet them and you of course at Tatton.
It's funny how they all have such different traits and personalities isn't it? Alfie the b&w is my 'soul dog' he's MY dog the deep thinker of the two who never leaves my side where as Chino is the gentle, daft one who would go off with anyone given the chance.
Milo is gorgeous, I've had a real soft spot for Lhasas since my Mum used to have one, he was a rescue too.

Re: Welcome Heidishome
LOL...you have no idea Debbie!!
Milo even answers to the name Gorgeous!!
The last few days have been miserable on the weather front but I've discovered that little Grouchie loves getting wet...... Oh Lordie.......
He's in & out of the garden all soaking wet and curly hair.
My oak floor awash with mud and the door mat was cream (I think)...... but he just bounds up to me with this huge grin and old Milo just sits there all bouffed, fluffy & clean looking at him all superior like.
I swear if that old Lhasa could tut then he would have!!
Heidi doesn't know whether to join in or just watch!!!
Are all Shiddies born with springs in their feet!? Mine certainly was...
To be honest I thought Grouch would arrive with some sort of baggage as rescues normally do and was quite prepared for that eventuality whatever it might be...... but he has been a joy from day one.
Although I am starting to suss that he is not keen on bigger dogs being in his face.... but then neither am I!!! If bigger dogs come towards us when out on our treks then I just call him in and put him on the lead until we are passed them. Other than that he has been fine.
Doesn't mind being brushed, or face being washed, or ears being cleaned, loves a snuggle, plays nicely with the others, lets me know if he needs the loo in between walks..... what more is there?
Looking forward to meeting you too...
Dionne

Re: Welcome Heidishome
Lol I love Milo already! I think it's hilarious when they have that air of superiority about them.
Grouch sounds like he's settled in with you beautifully, it's lovely to hear.
Ahh so you've discovered that they are mud/puddle magnets then? Great isn't it?!

Re: Welcome Heidishome
Looking at all the lovely piccies..... how do you keep them all so beautifully groomed??
Milo stays lovely & fluffy.... actually that's a big fat lie. Milo loves nothing more than to find something nice & smelly to roll in.
Grouch looks all sleek & bouffed for about 30 secs after grooming and then looks like he's had a rough night!!
How loud did I laugh the other day....out on our walk. Grouch & Heidi mooching in the long grass. I called him and he turned around, looked up at me and he had a faceful of grass burrs. Oh...for a camera
Mind you ...... took me blimmin' ages to pick 'em all out again when we got home!!
See what I mean??? Yoblet!!!!

Oh Yes, mine seem to find those spikey ones, that are really hard to get out, especially when the fur is long. Although lately its been the small sticky bud ones.

Re: Welcome Heidishome
Well, Saturday was such a blimmin' miserable wet day that little Grouch decided, "No!! Not getting up today"....
I eventually managed to talk him into coming downstairs and out to the garden for a toilet break..... it was a case of job done - now I'm off for another snooze.
He waltzed straight back miffily indoors and joined the others in the lounge..... note the one eye open look just in case he misses out on any action!! Either that or he couldn't get back to slip because Milo (the Lhasa on the pouffee) was snoring like a train!! LOL...
