Nasty dog owners
I was taking my 4 month old puppy out for a walk and we had not even reached the end of our road when I saw a guy walking 3 big dogs we were on the other side of the road -I was looking after him and trying to encourage him to walk up the road, He is still a bit nervous on bigger dogs and as those dogs were barking he was hesitant so i stopped to try and tell my dog it was ok - This guy was directly across from me but i wasnt looking at him at any time and he quite clearly said to his dogs its ok its only a little F$$$k. I say something then as he was being rude for no reason whatsoever.
Before I had my pup I have unfortunately had to deal with his 2 standard poodles on the extended lead barking and growling at me and they go and get another dog. They think thats acceptable do they??????????
No idea what to do now as it has stressed me out.

Re: Nasty dog owners
There are some ignorant b******s about - try not to let it stress you too much. We have probably all been faced with an idiot like this at some time or other. I had a nasty experience with a guy with two great danes that were not very nice and loose and I had picked up my puppy as I had already been warned the dogs were loose and had attakced a small poodle but his dogs had run over and were trying to get at the puppy in my arms which was quite scary as they were growling in my face! I called him and asked him very politely to call his dogs and he told me to F*** off and didn't I know it was a dog park..which madem e mad because it is a park where children are - yes a park but not just for dogs and they should still be under control GRRRR it makes me mad!! So I know just how you feel xxxx
Re: Nasty dog owners
Me too! We don't walk our dogs down the street as on the corner there are two Medium size dogs that run round the garden and the owner leaves the gate wide open. I already complained to the council due their inadequate fencing which the dogs still jump after filling in the holes.
I drive my dogs to a private fen where there are no dogs.

Re: Nasty dog owners
Don't let this man and his dogs spoil your walk love. Next time you see him just walk the opposite way, or turn round to your dog and just say ohh look its that foul mouth man and his stupid dogs.
I remember once taking my Rough collie into the park he was my first dog and I was about 14. This man went to kick him cause he went over to him and his dog. My dog was showing no aggresion he just wanted to go over for a sniff.
Well I went mad at him and told him if he kicks my dog I would personaly go over to him and kick him back. I was so annoyed with him. As soon as I got home I told my Dad who said good on you for telling him.
Some people shouldn't have dogs. I feel sorry for those dogs having an owner like him.

Re: Nasty dog owners
I am a new dog owner so its all new to me - The housetraining and toilet training is enough and trying to make sure he is ok is enough to deal with - This guy and his wife disgust me - It wasnt the first time with the guy either its the second time he has done this.
I didnt want any rubbish from him i wasn't saying anything to him I was simply trying to get my dog out for his walk.
Just because he has bigger dogs does not give him to right to say something like that.

Re: Nasty dog owners
I only had one encounter with a dog, but not a nasty dog. The owner a lady was walking her large dog towards us on a break water in a harbour where we love to take the dogs and always on their extended leads. This dog was un leashed. He came charging up and I asked her politely put your dog on a lead , her reply was' I don't have one with me he is such a good boy' well I said 'what if something happened'? At the time Mali & Tasha were just coming out of their Season, well when I told her she said OMG I will have to drag him all the way home now' You should have seen the look on her face when I told her that. It was true btw. I have always said that dogs should be on leads in a public place. Maybe if there is no one around that is fine but if other dogs are there they should be leashed. With our little dogs you can get 8 metre Flexi leads which is more than enough for them to run around. At least then they are under control. The only other time I remember is taking them on our nearest beach and these two Bearded Collies were loose and came running up to our two and I vaguely know the owner he helps run the local training classes but he made no attempt to get the dogs to go back to him. That is another reason why I didn't persevere with those classes and my two girls, they don't have a clue.
Re: Nasty dog owners
There are some really inconsiderate dog owners around. We've not had any real problems so far with Daisy, just the odd comment from a group of some lads once about giving her a kick up the backside when we first got her and she wouldn't walk on the lead. No one ever says anything about our labrador as I guess they think she is a "real" dog and Daisy isn't
As for dogs being walked off lead, I thought it was the law that they have to have a collar and lead on when outside? I am sure that's what we were told at dog classes.
One of my pet hates is people not picking up after their dogs. Just this morning we took our girls out and someone had let their dog poo all over the pavement in two places. Often I keep an extra bag on me and pick up other dog's poo but this stuff was a bit squidgy so I didn't attempt to. Even when Daisy has had her bad poos I've always done my best to clean up after her as I would hate anyone to walk into dog poo on the pavement. I always say to OH if I ever catch anyone doing that I will follow them home and push their dog's poo through their letter box

Re: Nasty dog owners
I have had a few instances with both Simba and Minty. The very first time Minty went out for a walk as a pup, we were in the park quietly having fun and this jack russell came from nowhere and pinned Minty to the ground. I went ballistic and the owner came over and rugby tackled the dog off of him, and to be fair was full of apologies and bought the dog over on a lead and they were fine together. Another time we were walking on a beach with Minty on a flexi-lead and an uncontrollable lab came bounding up to us and went for Minty, the woman with it laughing her head off doing nothing about it. We ended up with Minty in my arms being shielded between Lauren and myself and the dog trying to get to him, and the woman doing nothing but just calling him. She made no effort to put him on a lead or anything.
The worst with Simba was when I was walking him and passed a car with the window down. As I got level I realised there was a rottie loose in the back who went start raving bonkers through the window, worse than that though as I got past the car, a Rhodesian Ridgeback pushed the rottie out of the way and came through the window and started heading for Simba. Luckily he was on a flexi lead and so in front of me. As the ridgeback flew past me I stamped on the lead it had on without thinking. and the woman was out of the car and screaming her head off at me!!! I let rip at her about her dogs being out of control and loose in the car, let alone flying out of the window of the car. There was a group of workmen opposite and they just stood there opened mouthed not being able to do a thing. I have never been so shaken or scared in my life, and luckily Simba didn't come back on the lead or the ridgeback would have had him.
Some people should never have dogs, they are not fit to look after themselves let alone what can be a very powerful animal.

Re: Nasty dog owners
So ppl .... Readin all these stories makes me angry. I have learnt its not just the general public that can be mean but also the so called trainers and showers. I was very much ousted from a small group of show ring nut bags because Henry was as they put it puppy thick ! I have heard this before as my vet said it. His man bits did not drop at all so vet removed them he is a smaller male then normall and he acts like a pup with manners. He has no male dog instincts what so ever. So they calle him puppy thick and I should not bother with the ring ( was not anyway) and kinda laughed in my face and looked in disgust at Henry. They put a endorsement on his kc form because the breeder was getting rid of his line.
Yeah well as u can imagine this all went down well not repeat the rest of the convo
What makes me laugh is Henry beat some other there dogs at a agilty show ha ha ha

Re: Nasty dog owners
Some of those stories are horrible - You would think that they would be nice to other dog owners.
I have been taking Harley another route to the local park and trying to avoid bumping into this nasty man.
Interesting walk today it looks like he is trying to cock his little leg already - He will be 5 months on the 16th - I thought he would be older when he started doing that since nothing seems to have dropped down yet???

Re: Nasty dog owners
Javari didn't start cocking his leg till he was about 7 months. Kiran on the other hand wasn't even 4 months when he started. And he cocks his leg soooo high that somethimes he has trouble keeping his balance
Re: Nasty dog owners
I took him out for his walk tonight and there is no denying that he is starting to try and cock his leg and mark his territory as i was watching him closely to see after seeing him do it this morning for the first time. My little boy is growing up lol.
Does this mean that hopefully he will starting doing his business more outside??????????

Re: Nasty dog owners
Years ago,my then fiancee and I took our new terrier puppy for about her second walk ever -she'd just had her jabs.
We met a nice lady with a beautiful, quiet, dignified Weimaraner. The big dog and the little puppy sniffedand wagged for ages. Then Treacle sat down, thought for a few seconds, then lunged forward and bit the other dog very hard on the foreleg ...
The Weimaraner yelped and hid behind its owner's legs; Treacle continued to snarl and snap ... we apologised profusely, but thankfully the owner was very understanding and laughed it off.
So puppies and adult dogs meeting doesn't always turn out the way you think ...
