Hello from Evonne and Ellie!
Hello,
We got our little furbaby, Ellie, last Wednesday from a private seller. They were a bit vague on details but she is approximately 11 months old and we are her third owners. She's suffering from a bit of separation anxiety but is beginning to settle.
A little question - do you feed your doggies before or after a walk?
Thanks! Evonne x

Re: Hello from Evonne and Ellie!
Evonne and welcome to the forum.
I would say feed her before her walk. I feed mine about an hour or so before they go out.
She looks a lovely girl.

Hi and welcome from us too, I think it's a case of what works for you, the days I work my girls get walked before breakfast and the other days after they have eaten, and at night they have a walk before supper, it doesn't seem to bother them which way round it is x

She looks gorgeous
We have a 9mth old shih tzu and we do it both ways. In the mornings we tend to take both our dogs out before they are fed, but in the evening they are fed and then walked. I don't find it makes any difference.

Re: Hello from Evonne and Ellie!
Hi Evonne and welcome to the forum, it's great to have you here.
I usually feed at least half an hour before walking, so food has a chance to go down before walking. It is only because that is the way I have always done it, not for any other reason.
Ellie looks a little cutie by the way. Hope she settles soon.

Re: Hello from Evonne and Ellie!
I always feed after a walk as like you they shouldn't take exercise straight after eating... but it does depend on what sort of walk... if it is just a gentle stroll it can't do any harm
Welcome to the forum btw and its no wonder she has some separation anxiety bless her What I can tell you from her photo is that she is a rather nice specimen of the breed - she has a lovely face with dark round eyes. I can't understand why anyone would want to rehome her... I will never understand humans as long as I live... anyway I think there is a reason for everything and I think she is now with the people she was meant to be with
Looking forward to getting to know you Evonne and finding out about Ellie the fun I know you are going to have with her
If you need any help or advice just shout... there are a good few of us with different levels of experience with the breed but all with lots of helpful advice to give
Oh and one other thing.... photos are compuslory - we need to get our puppy fixes somewhere

Re: Hello from Evonne and Ellie!
Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone. I tried feeding after her walk this morning and she seemed ok with that. We've been giving her a couple of handfuls of Bakers puppy food and half a pouch of Pedigree puppy meat. Over the days she's been eating less and less of the dry food. Any ideas? I've got some of the Royal Canine Shih Tzu food coming in the post so hopefully she'll eat that. I might not give her any wet food with it.
She's been loving the snow. She likes to chase snowballs.

Re: Hello from Evonne and Ellie!
Glad you are getting her off the Bakers... it is full of additives and colours
There is nothing wrong with adding some warm water to a little bit of tinned/pouch food and using it as a gravy to moisten the dry food and give it a bit of flavour

Re: Hello from Evonne and Ellie!
Rosie is on the Pro Plan puppy food the breeder gave me a big bag, she is not a greedy pup at all and I have to encourage her to eat, the only thing I don't like is the smell of it x

I would decide which food you are going to give her a while before your big bag finishes , don't change her suddenly otherwise you may have problems.
