I don't think I could do fostering either because they insist if you have dogs of your own they must have been speyed or neutered. I would want to keep them also.

The same here Carol - and I think it is a bit of an insult as it is personal choice whether you have your own dogs neutered or not... and just because they are not neutered does not make you a bad owner nor does it mean that you are going to have puppies willy-nilly!!

Makes me mad! I consider you to be a wonderful home to foster our lovely breed! It is a crime that they don't think so because of your decision not to spay your girls!!!

I agree as well especially as the rescue dogs have been spayed or neutered by the time they reach their foster or new homes, mind you there has been an application for Meg but they only have a 2ft fence and cant understand why the rescue are concerned, they have an older Shih Tzu cross who they say doesnt try to get out so why would Meg?

I dont think that she would try to get out but you never know what temptation might appear such as a cat or squirrel I know my two would be over it like a shot! x

    It's true Carol teddy hug

I remember a couple of years ago trying to help them rehome a st puppy to a lovely st home. The lady's male was neutered but the bitch had gone to be spayed and had come into season so the vet recommended leaving it until all the internal organs had settled down again (as they do) and as a result they told her she was not suitable for the rehoming as she had an un-neutered dog (even though the male puppy was only 8 weeks old and the bitch was booked in for surgery long before he became an age where he could do anything!!) That sort of attitude makes my blood boil!!

Michele I have quite a low wall - at the front of my property but I don't ever leave my dogs out by themselves - so perhaps the couple are the same with their 2 foot fence??

That is lovely Michele, it must be very hard not to get too attached to these rescues. Did you tell them about Whispers?

I do tell all the people who adopt Shih Tzu from me about the forum, I dont think these people will be joining though as I dont think they have access to the internet, they had someone look for a dog on the website for them x

Another happy ending for you Michele. Well in the fact you know she has gone to a lovely home where she will be spoiled. It was a long way to come so they must have really wanted her.

I really don't know how you can let them go after being with you for a while. I would want to keep them all. Smile
